Keep your costume ready for its next performance
Always follow the care label and the supplier’s instructions for your exact garment. The guidance here is general and does not replace product-specific advice.
Before cleaning
Check the instructions for sequins, stones, metallic finishes, lace and glued decorations. If cleaning instructions are missing, ask before washing, soaking, ironing, steaming or using a cleaning product.
After rehearsal or a performance
- Let the garment air and dry before storing it.
- Keep it away from rough surfaces, jewellery and exposed fasteners that may snag delicate fabric.
- Check straps, closures and decorations before the next wear.
Travelling with costumes
Use a suitable garment bag and keep shoes and cosmetics separate. Avoid crushing structured pieces. Follow the supplier’s storage guidance for tutus and other shaped garments.
Reuse and repair
Consider reusing a look for another routine or passing it on when it is no longer needed. Ask a suitable alterations professional about repairs where needed.
